Busting Keto Myths
In this week’s blog, Tony from Keto Smart busts five of the biggest myths about Keto Diets
Myth 1: Keto is a fad diet for weight loss
BBBAMMMM! It’s a sustainable long-term lifestyle that has many benefits. It can have fast, short term weight loss benefits, but it extends beyond this. It can improve cognition, help with eyesight, hormone balancing, assist in normalising blood sugar levels and much more!
Myth 2: Your body needs carbohydrates
INCORRECT! Your body is capable of making the small amount of glucose that it needs (it’s called gluconeogenesis)!
Myth 3: Keto is a high protein diet
That’s a negative. The Keto Diet is a moderate protein diet with the majority of your plate composing vegetables and salad.
Myth 4: Keto is too restrictive
It’s not. If you enjoy seafood, meat, animal products, bog servings of salad and vegetables, dairy, healthy fats, nuts and seeds, then you won’t feel restricted at all.
Myth 5: Fats are bad for you
They’re not. The worldwide obesity epidemic coincides with the time low fat diets were introduced in the 1960s. Fat has little to no impact on blood sugar levels. People on low fat diets still have heart attacks and develop Type 2 Diabetes.
